#83) The Bottlebrush Tree

I've walked past this tree a hundred times. I don't know why I hadn't noticed how beautiful it is until today. The sky was so blue and clear and the sun so bright that the colors jumped out at me.

#82) Ian & The Swing

Today, just a few minutes ago, I took a series of photos of Ian while he was swinging at the school he attends one day a week. Today is his sisters turn to be in class and so Ian gravitated to the swings after we did a page of math. I really like the action in these images.

We were waiting for acting class when I snapped this picture of my son, Ian.

#79) Orchid, Botanical Building & Lilly Pond

I visit the Botanical Building often. It is so beautiful. The grounds around it are undefinable.

I don't know what kind of flower this is but it was on the back wall, hanging there, begging to have its picture taken.

The lily pond with koi is next to the entrance to the building. It is free to anyone who wants to enter. Can't beat that price.

#78) The view from inside the Botanical Building toward the prado

This is taken, right from the center of the Botanical Building, looking toward the prado:

This was taken in 2007 with my Canon PowerShot A85 looking back toward the botanical building:

#77) Botanical Building, Balboa Park

Our internet SUCKS. I missed posting yesterday because it was down... AGAIN. Today, I took my kids to their theatre/acting class in Balboa Park. We get there early every week and today, we parked behind the Botanical Building which is right up against the zoo an also next to The Old Globe Theatre.

#75) San Diego Jr. Theatre, another view

A while back I posted a couple of pictures of The Theatre. These are pictures of another part of their mini-compound in Balboa Park. Also, I was going to publish these yesterday but the internet was down.

This is a detail of one of the artsy flourishes decorating the inner courtyard:

On Friday, I walked through the Spanish Village and thought I'd share several images of this wonderful, little maze of shops.

#73) Balboa Park Sunset

I took these yesterday. The sun coming through the palms and the silhouette of the building façades. It was so beautiful, magic light and a magical place.

#72) SanDiego Jr. Theatre Building, Balboa Park

This is the same photo, 3 times. The first is an original, untouched picture of the inside hallway to the San Diego Jr. Theatre building.

This is a sepia treated picture of the same shot:

And this, my favorite, is a B&W photo - I thought it was interesting how the mood changes with each treatment.

#71) Spanish Village Art Studios, Balboa Park

We haven't been able to get out due to the dreaded cold we have but I took these last Friday. This is the Spanish village at the north end of Balboa Park, next to the zoo.

#69) My Back Yard

Ok, it's not exactly my back yard, but it's right beyond the fence. This is the view from my yard while sitting at my table on the patio. There's a walking trail below - we live above the trail. It is glorious here today. Sunny and perfect. I've got some nasty virus. It's also known as a cold. But sitting out on the patio makes me feel like I'm the luckiest suburbanite on Earth.

#68) A Penny For Your Thoughts

Annoying? Pennies will probably go the way of the horse and buggy, pay phones and rotary dials. The U.S. Mint losses money producing pennies and nickels. In 2009, the reported loss was 29 million dollars. So says an article published in Mint.com

#66) Casa del Prado Theatre

Here is the fantastic Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park. My two children take acting classes which are affiliated with the theatre. See the cupola on top in the first photo? Well, in the second photo, I took a picture of it from the back of the building.
