The New Year is Upon Us

Well, I thought it would be interesting to see if I could keep up with a photo journal blog. You know, take a picture every day, post it and write a little something. I know that my life gets crazy... Home schooling my two kids and all - I was a reluctant home schooling mother. I used to think that only religious nut-balls home schooled their kids... Now I find out that there are extenuating circumstances that can force a person into this role. My 11 year old son has Aspergers Syndrome. It is a high functioning form of autism...It is virtually impossible for him to be in a conventional classroom but he is very intelligent and so he needs to be stimulated into learning. The options available to him, here in San Diego, are limited and the best fit was for me to homeschool him... Then, my 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June 2010. Her blood sugar fluctuates drastically on some days and the school nurses were constantly on the phone to me. Also, she was in a room with 33 other kids... Half of which would show up with a cold or the flu. One thing you do not want your diabetic child to do is get sick. This causes horrible problems with their blood sugar and can land them in the hospital, hooked up to I.V.'s to get their blood sugar under control. That's how I became a home schooling mom. And so, this photo journal blog is going to follow us through the upcoming year.
